Northern Kuwait Gas Production

Delta Controls is pleased to announce the award of an instrumentation contract for the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) expansion projects in the northern Kuwaiti gas fields. Kuwait’s northern gas fields of West Sabriya, East and West Raudhatain, and Um Niqa are located geographically near the Iraqi and Saudi Arabian border of Kuwait. In January of 2016, Schlumberger was awarded a five year $480 million contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of facilities associated with the development of these fields..

The development of the fields was initiated in 2010 but delayed due to domestic economic and political disputes. The government of Kuwait forbids foreign ownership of the country’s natural resources, and after years of investigations into agreements with foreign companies, Kuwait has finally began tendering contracts for the oil and gas production projects.

With the government of Kuwait’s ultimate goal of 3.65 MBPD production by 2020, the construction of several large-scale production expansion projects are in the works to increase output and alleviate budgetary crunches within the oil rich nation. Kuwait plans to spend in excess of $115 billion on oil expansion projects over the course of the next five years.
